“the man who never made a fuck-up never made fuck-all”
I’ve made plenty of fuck ups. Now I’m going to make something.
This blog will be my open and honest account of building a brand from scratch.
Specifically, in the area of golf wear.
Why? Maybe you need to know a little bit more about me…
In short, I’m Kalani. A late 20’s golf fanatic, living the good life in sunny Western Australia.
Since 2019, I’ve been an all-out balls-to-wall golf addict. I get on the course 2-3 times a week and love every second of it. Even the 3 putts.
But I also love being creative.
I’ve made youtube video essays studying titans of business, worked with one of the top investing and business podcasts in the world1, and even created my own podcast where I interviewed legends people across Asia-pacific.
So one thing that rubbed off when chatting to so many incredible entrepreneurs, is that they just get after it. They get shit done.
It’s now my turn to get after it.
I don’t ever want to stop asking questions and improving. But I want to put what I’ve learned into practice.
Ok, so why golf? And why clothing?
I hope I’ve made the golf part already clear. I live for those afternoon rounds, sun setting, walking around the course with mates. Truly nothing better in life.
But clothing is a quiet passion of mine. Especially high quality. Because the devil is always in the details.
Fun fact: nearly 8 years ago now, I had a streetwear Tumblr with 10k+ followers.
And being from Perth, brands like Oli and StreetX have always struck a chord.
So why not combine my two loves and see what works? I have nothing to lose.
I’m a curious kid. I love asking ‘why?’ But an extension of that is, Why not me?
Why can’t I create an authentic, high-quality golf brand from Perth?
Let’s crack in.
I was a Pioneer at Colossus, which operates the Invest Like the Best and Business Breakdowns podcasts among others. If you haven’t heard of them previously, I highly recommend the Sam Hinkie interview and the NBA business breakdown.
For true success ask yourself these four questions: Why? Why not? Why not me? Why not now?
